The adventure begins…

I have grown up going to the Kruger National Park and other game reserves in our beautiful South Africa, and my passion for the bush started at a young age. I have always been fascinated with wildlife facts with a keen interest to learn more.

So this is a place for me to share what I have learnt and am learning about the South African bush. I’m by no means an expert, just a passionate wildlife enthusiast. Recently, I realised that I’m often answering friends’ questions about the bush and anything slightly related to it – from where to stay in Kruger to what binoculars to buy. So, I figure there must be others out there who have questions that need answering, or who are just equally as passionate as I am and eager to share and learn together.

If you have any questions about the bush, let me know – I’d love to hear from you and make these posts helpful. I want this to be an interactive blog and I welcome any feedback.

My first series of posts is going to be about the recent floods in Kruger and how the park has been affected by them.. I plan to update at least daily from Sunday for 8 days, exploring the areas around Lower Sabie, Skukuza and Satara. I’ll be posting photos on any damage and changes and also just updating on what the park looks lke post-flood. I was there just a few weeks ago and the park, especially near Satara, was very dry, so I’ll be following up on what the dams and rivers are looking like now. Hopefully the water levels are up enough to get the park through winter.

I look forward to this adventure and taking you along for the journey.
